The Father McKenna Center
The Father McKenna Center

Summer has arrived at the McKenna Center and that means high school immersion experiences will start soon.  We will host Gonzaga June 7-11, Scranton Prep June 14-18, Encounter the Gospel of Life July 11-16 and the Cristo Rey School of Baltimore August 1-7.

We look forward to getting a lot of work done, educating students and having a positive impact on homelessness in Washington.

The McKenna Center will host a talk by Cherie Brown on Sunday September 12 after the 9:30 AM mass.  The theme of Cherie's talk will be "Is Peace Possible in the Middle East?"  Cherie Brown is Founder-Executive Director of the National Coalition Building Institute, a leading organization in diversity training and conflict resolution.  She has trained Arab-Jewish Cooperation Groups in Israel and has been active in peace efforts in the Middle East.  A graduate of Harvard, Cherie has worked in hot spots around the world including Northern Ireland and South Africa.

The McKenna Center would like to offer to engage in a book discussion.  The book is "Jesus: Social Revolutionary?" by Father Peter McVerry SJ.  The discussions will occur over the course of 10 weeks and be limited to 10 participants.  Sessions could occur after the 9:30 AM on Sundays or during the week depending on the desires of participants.  If you are interested in engaging in this book discussion, please contact Tom Howarth at 202-842-1112 or by email at tomhowarth@fathermckennacenter.org.
